Installation Parameters Quick Reference

Installation height, tilt angle, pixel density, and lighting requirements are provided by scenario for direct use during site surveys and construction.

Use CasesInstallation HeightMounting AnglePixel requirementsFill Light and Attention
Urban Road TrafficPole 5–7 mVertical tilt angle: 10°–15°, horizontal deviation ≤ 20°License plate width ≥ 80 pxSupplement lighting at night; avoid direct glare from oncoming headlights into the lens.
Park / Parking Lot Entrance & Exit1.2–1.5 m (pole or island)Vertical tilt angle: 20°–30°, horizontal deviation ≤ 30°License plate width ≥ 130 pxDetection zone distance from barrier gate: 3–5 m. Leave trigger distance reserved.
Indoor Traffic (Store / Cafeteria)2.5–3.5 mVertical tilt: 0°–15°, camera aimed directly at the corridor.Minimum head pixel size: 60 pxAvoid direct glare from the top light strip and reflections on the glass.
Entry/Exit Traffic (Gates / Doors)2.5–4 mVertical depression angle 0°–10°, with the statistical line perpendicular to the channel.Minimum head pixel size: 80 pxEnsure the statistical line avoids obstruction by swinging doors and plants.
Perimeter Intrusion Detection3–5 mVertical tilt angle 15°–30°, covering both sides of the perimeter line.Human height ≥ 120 pxClear obstructions within 1 m of the safety line

The values in the table represent general recommended ranges, derived from equipment vendor installation manuals and on-site survey records. In scenarios with strong backlighting, irregular channel geometries, or high ceilings, adjust camera placement based on measured pixel density and counting accuracy.

Site Survey and Installation Standards

Data accuracy depends on installation quality. Below are the angle, position, and pixel requirements for device site surveys.

Vertical angle: 0°–5°, horizontal angle: 5°–10°. Avoid excessive downward tilt to prevent occlusion.

Common Site Survey Questions

What are the installation angle requirements for footfall and vehicle cameras?
For road scenarios, use a vertical angle of 10°-15° and a horizontal angle of 0°-20° when side-mounted. For entry/exit scenarios, set the vertical angle to 0°-5° and the horizontal angle to 5°-10°. If measuring angles on-site is impractical, control installation height and distance to ensure capture points are positioned in the lower 1/4-1/3 area of the frame.
What are the pixel requirements for license plate recognition?
For urban road scenarios, license plate horizontal pixel resolution must be at least 80px. For park and parking lot entrances/exits, a minimum of 130px is recommended, with the recognition zone positioned 3-5 meters from the barrier gate to ensure high recognition accuracy and comply with Mainland China license plate recognition standards.
How do I determine the installation height for indoor footfall counters?
Indoor corridors: recommend width 2.5-3.5 m, tilt angle 0°-15°, with head pixel size ≥ 60px. Entrances/exits: recommend width 2.5-4 m, tilt angle 0°-10°, with head pixel size ≥ 80px; ensure the detection line is perpendicular to the flow direction. If ceiling height exceeds 5 m, switch to a long-focal lens or add support columns.
How do I verify counting accuracy after installation?
Re-measure the tilt angle after installation, observe continuously for at least 30 minutes and manually verify counts. During the first week of deployment, perform daily reviews; accuracy at entry/exit points should stabilize above 95%. Acceptance requires submission of a site map, equipment list, and calibration parameters.

Installation Prompt

  1. 1

Direct angle measurement is often impractical on-site. Control the angle by adjusting installation height and distance.

  2. 2

Ensure the capture point is located in the lower portion of the camera view at 1/4-1/3.

  3. 3

License plate horizontal pixel count must be ≥80px to ensure recognition accuracy and comply with Mainland China license plate standards.

Site Survey Checklist

From site setup to acceptance and delivery, verify each of the four stages item by item to minimize rework.

1

On-site Environment

  • Record point orientation, obstructions, and background lighting to avoid backlighting and strong glare.
  • Measure installable height and pole conditions to verify the tilt angle is within the recommended range.
  • Confirm the statistical area boundaries and draw lines to show the vertical relationship with pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
2

Power and Network

  • Verify PoE power distance or locate a nearby power source, and allow for cable slack.
  • Calculate upstream bandwidth. For single-stream 1080P playback, reserve at least 4 Mbps.
  • Verify network connectivity and firewall policies between the device and the platform.
3

Installation and Setup

  • Mount the device at the recommended height and angle, then recheck the tilt after tightening.
  • Verify license plate or head pixel count on-site; adjust focal length or camera position if requirements are not met.
  • Monitor for more than 30 minutes and verify that entry/exit counts match actual traffic.
4

Acceptance and Delivery

  • Output point diagrams, equipment lists, and protocol access information as acceptance attachments.
  • Log debug parameters and alert thresholds for easy reuse and troubleshooting.
  • Set the data reconciliation cycle: verify accuracy daily during the first week after launch.
